STAP Frequently Asked Questions
Is the program delivered online?
We have received confirmation from the Board that this program can be conducted online for
2020. For the rest of this year, all STAP Workshops and Masterclasses will be online.
How can I sign up for the program?
You are able to create a user and pay for the program easily on our website.
How can I access the Knowledge Assessment?
Once you have paid for the program, you will get automatic access to the Knowledge Assessment
When does the Knowledge Assessment need to be completed?
It is a STAP requirement that the knowledge assessment be complete within 6 months of first registering for the program. It is a Board requirement that the knowledge assessment is completed before the Workshop, as such STAP asks you to kindly complete this 2 weeks prior to the Workshop.
Do I have to be a Psychologist to complete the training?
No, the training can be done by anyone who thinks it will benefit them in their work. Social
workers and counsellors also often do the training as well as psychologists.
Can my employer or a third party payee pay for my training?
Yes. Your employer can pay for the training. We would invoice them for the training first and
once paid we would then send you a confirmation email with details on how to access the
How do I qualify to become a board-approved supervisor?
To become a Board-approved supervisor you must have: held general registration as a psychologist for at least three years, and. successfully completed full training with a Board-approved provider. Once the training is completed and you have received your certificate of completion from STAP you then need to contact AHPRA and register through them to officially become a registered supervisor.
How long do I have to complete the whole training package?
12 months from the date of payment.
How long does each component of the training take?
Component 1 the online Knowledge Assessment will take approximately between 10-15 hours and must be completed within 6 month of first registering for the training program. Component 2 the two day workshop takes two full days ( starting 9am – 5pm ).Component 3 the video evaluation needs to be approximately 50 minutes long.
When do I need to complete my video evaluation?
Although you have 12 months to complete the training course your video evaluation needs to
be submitted within 3 months of doing component 2 which is the workshop.
How much does the training cost?
You have the choice of either paying for each component individually or as a total package.
- Component 1 : The Knowledge assessment is $195
- Component 2 : The 2 day workshop is $775
- Component 3 : The video evaluation is $440
Or buy the total bundle package including all 3 components for $1200.
Can I complete the course with STAP if I have already done components 1 or 2 with a different training provider?
Yes. It is fine if you have completed component 1 or 2 with another training provider but wish to complete the rest of your training through STAP. This is one of the reasons we offer each component at an individual price, as some participants might not need to purchase the entire packaged bundle.
Do you offer a Masterclass?
Yes. STAP offers a 1 day Masterclass which allows professional training for Psychology
Board of Australia approved supervisors to renew their status every five years.
How much does the Masterclass cost?
Will I be charged a cancellation fee if I cancel or change my master class or workshop date?
Please be aware you will need to give 1 weeks notice if you wish to cancel or change your master class or workshop date or a cancellation fee will apply. For an in person event the fee will be $100. For an online event the fee will be $50 if we cannot find someone to take your spot in the online class. You can advise us of a cancellation by either calling our office on 07 3493 6600 or emailing us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
